Fall CSA – Week 5
October 15, 2026 | Prison City Brewing
A Little Bit of Everything: Movie Night, Snacks & the Fall Harvest!
This week's CSA box is a bit of a mixed bag — and sometimes those are the most fun!
We've gathered some of the last goodies from the PCB Farm, a collection of sweet and salty snacks, a few interesting beers and seasonal ciders, and a little something from PCB Mercantile.
Fresh from the PCB Farm
Fresh Herbs – The garden is winding down, but there's still plenty of flavor! Use your herbs in soups, pasta, roasted vegetables, or homemade herb butter.
Pickled Green Tomatoes – Tangy, crunchy, and delicious on sandwiches, burgers, charcuterie boards, or straight from the jar.
Green Tomatoes – One of fall's underrated ingredients. Their firm texture and tart flavor make them ideal for frying, roasting, or making chutney and relish.
Cherry Tomatoes – A few more sweet bites of summer! Enjoy fresh, roast them with garlic, or toss into a warm pasta dish.
Mixed Peppers – Perfect for sheet-pan dinners, homemade pizza, fajitas, or roasting and freezing for winter.
Edible Flowers – Add a little color to salads, cocktails, cheese boards, or desserts. You can also freeze them in ice cubes for a special touch.
The Movie Night Snack Stash
We've included a little something for every kind of snacker!
Bjorn Corn – Savory, crunchy, and seriously snackable.
Pop Daddy Dill Popcorn – A fun, tangy twist on movie-night popcorn.
Arbor Hill Grape Gummi Bears – A little something sweet from the Finger Lakes.
Martin's Pretzels – Crunchy, salty, and great with mustard, cheese, or your favorite beer.
Popinsanity Artisan Popcorn – Gourmet popcorn for a little extra movie-night indulgence.
Movie night idea: Set everything out in bowls, make a popcorn bar, and let everyone create their own sweet-and-salty snack mix. Add chocolate candies, nuts, or dried fruit if you have them on hand.
Something to Sip
3 Seasonal Ciders
2 German Beers
From the Kitchen: A Few Ways to Use Your Harvest
Crispy Fried Green Tomatoes + recipes in the box
Slice green tomatoes into ¼-inch rounds. Dredge in seasoned flour, dip in beaten egg, and coat with cornmeal or panko. Pan-fry until golden brown.
Serve with a simple dipping sauce of mayo, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, and chopped fresh herbs.
Sheet-Pan Roasted Peppers & Tomatoes
Combine your peppers and cherry tomatoes with olive oil, garlic, salt, and pepper. Roast at 425°F for 20–25 minutes.
Use them throughout the week:
Toss with pasta and Parmesan.
Spoon over toasted sourdough with ricotta.
Add to homemade pizza or flatbread.
Serve with grilled chicken or sausage.
Blend into a quick roasted vegetable sauce.
A Little Fall Inspiration: Stay-In Movie Night
Sometimes the best autumn plans are the ones that don't require leaving the house.
A few movies for a cozy October evening:
Practical Magic – Fall atmosphere, a little magic, and a beautiful New England setting.
Knives Out – A clever mystery with a perfect autumn feel.
Fantastic Mr. Fox – Whimsical, funny, and full of fall colors.
When Harry Met Sally – Classic New York autumn nostalgia.
The Addams Family – A little spooky, a little silly, and perfect for October.
Make a snack board, pour something delicious, light a candle, and call it a night!
A Fun Fact
Why are green tomatoes still green?
As the days get shorter and temperatures cool, tomatoes ripen more slowly. Green tomatoes are simply unripe tomatoes, but their firmer texture and tart flavor make them a wonderful ingredient in their own right.
A Note from the Farm
We're getting close to the end of another growing season, and this week's harvest is a reminder to enjoy every last bit of it.
The final tomatoes, peppers, flowers, and herbs are making their way out of the garden, and we're already thinking about what we'd like to grow next year.
One more box next week !
Thank you for being part of our Fall CSA, supporting local producers, and sharing in a season of good food, good drinks, and a little fun.
Cheers!
