Welcome to Week Six of the PCB Farmhouse CSA!
This is our final week for the late summer boxes.
Summer’s Sweet Ending
This week, we’re celebrating that beautiful little moment when summer and fall overlap—when the garden is still giving us strawberries, basil, mint and flowers, but cider donuts and pumpkin beer are starting to sound pretty perfect. So Week Six is all about Summer’s Sweet Ending: a box filled with things to bake, sip, share and turn into one last late-summer treat.
Your PCB Farm strawberries and edible flowers are practically begging to become strawberry shortcake, so we’ve included shortcakes from the PC Kitchen to get you started. Add fresh berries, whipped cream and a drizzle of the Basil Simple Syrup for a very Prison City version of the classic. The syrup is also great in cocktails, lemonade or sparkling water, while the fresh mint and mixed herbs can find their way into drinks, dinner—or whatever you’re making this weekend.
And because we’re officially starting to flirt with fall, there are cider donuts from Owen’s Apple Orchard, a chocolate cupcake from Believe Bakery, treats from Jar Bar Confections and hazelnut wafers. Enjoy everything with your new PCB Camp Mug—something to keep long after CSA season is over.
Featured Beer: Pumpkin Escobar
This week’s 4-pack is one of our favorite seasonal returns: Pumpkin Escobar, Prison City’s 7% ABV Pumpkin Coffee Porter. This isn’t your typical sweet pumpkin ale. It’s a dark, roasty porter blended with pumpkin, cinnamon and locally roasted, by simple roast, mocha java coffee beans, bringing together chocolate malt, warm autumn spice and roasted coffee flavors.
It’s rich and fall-ish without tasting like pumpkin pie in a glass—and at 7% ABV, it’s substantial enough for a cool September evening while still being very drinkable. Try it alongside the chocolate cupcake, cider donut or hazelnut wafers in this week’s box.
Here’s to the last strawberries, the first cider donuts, cool nights, camp mugs and that first little taste of fall. Summer isn’t quite over yet—so let’s make the ending sweet.
