Nothing says summer quite like firing up the grill and cracking open a crisp, hop-forward beer. 4 Piece Citra showcases bright notes of citrus, tropical fruit, and a refreshing finish that cuts through the richness of grilled favorites. Pair it with classic backyard barbecue staples like burgers, hot dogs, grilled chicken, corn on the cob, pasta salad, or smoky barbecue ribs for an easy, crowd-pleasing combination that's made for warm evenings, good friends, and long summer weekends.
Beer can chicken
What is Beer-Can Chicken?
Beer-Can Chicken involves placing a whole chicken over a half-full can of beer (or another liquid) so it stands upright while cooking. The liquid inside the can steams as the chicken cooks, helping to keep the meat moist from the inside while the outside crisps up. This method works on both grills and in ovens, and it’s sometimes called “beer butt chicken” or “chicken on a throne” afarmgirlsdabbles.com+2.
Ingredients and Seasoning
Chicken: A whole bird, typically 3–5 pounds, with neck and giblets removed
Beer: Half of a 12-ounce can of beer is used; alternatives include chicken broth, soda, or juice
Oil: Olive or vegetable oil to help seasonings stick and promote crispy skin
Spice Rub: various herbs & spice, salt, pepper, and sometimes brown sugar for caramelization
Cooking Method
Prep the Chicken: Pat the chicken dry thoroughly to ensure crispy skin. Rub oil and seasoning inside and out
Prepare the Beer Can: Open the can, pour out [drink] half, and optionally poke extra holes for steam release
use the beer can holder for extra stability
Mount the Chicken: Carefully lower the chicken onto the beer can, using the legs to form a tripod for stability
Cook: Use indirect heat on a grill or oven at 350–425°F. Cook for 75–90 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165°F in the breast and 180°F in the thigh
Rest and Serve: Let the chicken rest 10–15 minutes before removing the can and carving
